Best Sound and Soundtrack of the Year 2006 is...
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas by RockStar Games
GameZone's Review

Music has the power to infuse moods into a game, to drive emotions in a certain direction. Now couple that with top-notch voice acting and you have a 'sound' foundation for a hit game. In 2004, the one game that offered a robust audio experience was GTA: San Andreas.
Louis Bedigian:
Cruisin' down the street with your car kickin' in the air
Waving your hands to the hardcore sounds like ya just don't care
Running from the evil cops 'cause life isn't fair
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the most comprehensive collection of music ever released. It's got 90s rap, rock, R&B, country, and tons of classic stuff that I barely remember hearing. The soundtrack is so huge that it took 8 CDs to cover each and every song!
I don't buy rap music, nor do I listen to it on a regular basis. However, when I heard Snoop and Dre playing on the radio of a car I just ripped off, I couldn't help but be taken back to my youth. Drugs, violence, death — it was like taking a trip down memory lane. Sure, I had never experienced those things firsthand, but with the help of MTV's music video countdown, I was just as much of a thug as anybody else.
Awesome music, excellent commercials, great sound effects — the sound is top-notch in every conceivable way.
